My Income and Traffic Report – June 2011

income and traffic reportSince this is another new month, I’m very happy to be sharing my income and traffic report for the month of June with you.

If you’ve been following WritersinCharge for sometimes now you will notice I have the habit of displaying my income and traffic report at the end of every month. This particular act was inspired by Pat Flynn of and I didn’t start doing so just because I want to copy Pat, but because I want to do the following.

  • Inspire You
  • Motivate You
  • Encourage You
  • Let You Know that I Truly Know what I am Talking About

It is evident that I’m achieving my purpose for publishing these reports because they are the most popular posts on this blog. My income and traffic report page is the most popular page on this blog this year, and it has been viewed at least one thousand times more than my about page – even though my about page used to be the most popular page before the introduction of my income and traffic reports.

If you take a look at these reports you will notice that I’m not trying to sell you anything. I only publish my income and traffic reports because of the reasons listed above and I will like you to know that there is no assurance that you will be able to make even half of what I makeand there is also nothing stopping you from doing so. Don’t quit your day job because of these reports and don’t misquote me as I’m not telling you blogging is a get rich quick business – I started this blog 15 months ago, and I only started to make some serious income 6 months go. So, please don’t misunderstand me.

Important Happenings in June.

Yes, a lot of cool and very important things happened in June that I’m super excited to talk about. I was able to start some new projects and I also made a few changes that will be affecting my site significantly this month and forever.

Starting a Niche Site: I’ve been following Glen Allsopp and Pat Flynn for a long period of time now and I’m also well aware of their success with niche sites. Glen’s main income comes  from building niche sites and Pat’s newly started niche site is fast becoming a success. As a result of this I have started my own niche site and I’m very happy at the moment because I noticed my decision was not a mistake. In fact, I’m pretty sure that in a month or two month’s time my niche site will be getting double the traffic WritersinCharge currently gets. I really don’t want a lot of competition so I won’t be revealing my niche site, but I will be showing you the results I get, how I get it and I will be starting a new niche site from scratch with 100% transparency as soon as this one starts to make enough and consistent income.

Not Actively Planning to Monetize: If you could recall I started my guest blogging consulting service (which I told you I paid $400 to write its sales page in my last income report). The funny thing is that after almost 300 visitors to that page in June I was unable to get a single client. I don’t know if the problem is with the sales page or with something that has to do with me, but for that reason I have decided that this isn’t the right time to start monetizing WritersinCharge. I have since stopped promoting the page and have also not taken any step to monetize this blog – I still make a nice sum from my client every month so that will be enough to cover my blogging costs, and more. I have decided however to start focusing on improving this blog – as a result, I have hired a “secret expert” to analyze this blog and give improvements that can double my blog traffic so I will start monetizing again in 2-3 months time when I’m getting solid and stable traffic.

I have also made some changes in terms of promoting this blog and you will start to see more guest posts soon. All these might affect my traffic in July, and maybe August but you will soon notice a very significant spike in traffic soon.

That’s pretty much everything I think you need to know for the month of June, so let’s go into the traffic report for June.

June 2011 Traffic Report

June was also a great month for this blog and even though I got less traffic than in May I got better traffic. I got over 2,000 visitors from Stumbleupon in May but I only got a little over 700 in June, which means I got less traffic than in the month of May, but better traffic.

In case you’re curious, just as shown in the graph below, WritersinCharge got 16,062 visitors in the month of June and I’m pretty happy with it so far. It means I’m now stable at 15k visitors a month and I will be noticing a significant increase soon.

As with my Alexa rank I now have an Alexa rank of 10k (which will definitely go down to 9k before the end of this month). It seems I am highly favored by the “gods of Alexa”…lol!

I know there has been a lot of controversy on this and some people complain about me having way too much Alexa rank than my traffic. No one can say for certain as nobody, except the Alexa team, knows for certain if I’m justified with the rank I have and if others are cheated or if I’m “over-blessed” and others are justified. However, everything you see on this blog is natural, and so is my Alexa rank. So if you want yours to increase and don’t know how just let me know in the comments section – If I see that a lot of people are curious to know more about improving their Alexa rank in the comments below and that writing a post on it is bound to succeed then I will go ahead and write it. If however, less interest is shown, we all can as well forget about me writing a post on it soon.

Below are my traffic screenshots for the month of June.

Top 10 Content for June

By taking a look at the traffic screenshots for June you will notice that WritersinCharge was visited a total of 16,061 times in June, WritersinCharge received 30,086 pageviews in May, it has a bounce rate of 62.26% and an awesome average time of 03:53 minutes on site.

That really isn’t where I’m heading, but I will say it is awesome.

How I Plan to Improve my Traffic in the Future

I have done a lot of talking in my past income reports about how I get traffic to this blog so I think I will start with how I will drive traffic to this blog.

SEO: Yes. You heard that right. I would have been getting double the traffic I’m getting now on autopilot if only I had focused all my efforts on search engine traffic. Like I said above I have hired an expert I won’t be revealing until later this month (or in next month’s income report) to help me do an SEO Analysis of this blog. Through that analysis I will be able to increase my traffic significantly.

Guest Blogging: Thanks to Brandon I have entered a guest blogging challenge this month. The challenge is to be averaging 2 guest posts a day aside for weekends and I plan to go through with the challenge till the end of this year. My reasons for doing this is to build my guest blogging credibility once again, increase my exposure significantly and also gain high quality one-way backlinks. I know at this rate I might not be able to get all my guest posts on big blogs so I have decided to make myself available to everybody. I know I will get quite a lot of requests so I have included a few criteria to ensure I only get quality requests. To get me to write for you Visit this Page!

Conversion Optimization/Copywriting: Aside getting traffic alone I will also be focusing more of my efforts on converting the traffic. The traffic WritersinCharge gets alone is enough to be making me at least $2,000 online monthly from this blog on autopilot if properly leveraged, but for some reasons I haven’t monetized. I will be hiring experts, reading a lot about the subject and doing everything I can to get the best from my traffic in the nearest future.

Income Report for June 2011

Now that we’ve seen how much traffic I got in June, let’s go see how much I made.

We all knew May was a poor month in terms of earnings for me, however I was still happy with my income, June was an overall better month and I’m pretty sure July will be my best month. Below is my income report for June 2011.

Writing Services: $4240

Affiliate Marketing: $37

Google Adsense: $5.30

Total Income: $4282.30

Market Samurai: $149

New Domain Name: $10

Service Purchase: $250

Total Expenses: $409

Lessons Learned by Making $4k in May

  • No matter what you do, be consistent at it.
  • It takes more than traffic to make money online.
  • The best way to make money online is by looking for one thing you’re best at, and focusing on it.

I know some of you will be surprised to see Adsense above considering the fact that I once removed it. The reason for including it is because I just started a new niche site so I want to be keeping track of my earnings from it also.

Feel free to comment with your opinions about June’s report and also with suggestions on what you want me to do (and not do) on WritersinCharge. I’m also willing to answer your questions, and if you’re yet to. Subscribe to my blog today!

This was another great post! Love the way you exaplain what you’re doing as well as some hiccups along the way.

I’ve only been blogging a few months but have seen you mention Alexa several times. Maybe you could write about that? I’m sure I could Google it but a post on Alexa may help newbies.

    • Onibalusi says:

      Hi Tom,

Great. I’ve gotten (and noted) the Alexa request #1…lol!

It’s usually fun writing these reports but what I want to do is learn and improve more and then share what I learn with you – I see that happening very soon though 🙂

      • Tom says:

        Looking forward to it.

    • Onibalusi says:

      Hi Praveen,

$4k is not my best income considering I made $5k plus in April.

I plan promoting products soon – and believe me when I say I have great plans for this 🙂

      Hi Ankush,

I will change it soon, but I want my earnings to be consistent first. The $3k is an average and I will change it to $5k as soon as I start averaging that.

  9. Eugene says:

    Hey Oni,

Congrats on the great results yet again. I think there is a golden nugget of advice here that should be highlighted. Find what you do best and stick to it. I think it takes a lot of experimentation to figure out what that is though.

    • Onibalusi says:

You’re right about it. I also think it’s important to diversify your business, which is what I’m doing in the next few months.

  10. Haru says:

hey oni…im not surprise that u made that money cause i know u will get more than that (soon)..

(cant wait how much will u earn end of this year :))

  11. fantastic sams says:

This is such a earning that we can hardly earn from our jobs. This is a great post in sense that it inviting people towards online community.

    • Onibalusi says:

That’s one great importance of working online.

  12. Ferhat says:

It’s a great report that encourage me, thank you…

    • Onibalusi says:

I’m glad you loved it Ferhat 🙂

  13. Roy C.Chukwu says:

    Nice month for you.

But your PR is Zero? I need you to tell me why.

    R Chukwu

    • Onibalusi says:

You need to check the PR tool you use, it’s 4 at my end.

      • Roy C.Chukwu says:

        What tool do you use?

        • Neil Williams says:

It’s PR 4.. You can check this tool. or you can Google another. Its 4 everywhere 🙂

        • Flo | Create Your Own Website says:

Roy, you need to check the homepage not this post page. Anyway PR0 or PR9, what matters is that he provides good stuff and he makes genuine money from his skills.

          • Onibalusi says:

            I second @Flo.

And my PR4 is still intact. I use the tool at I also have the “Quirk Status” wordpress mozilla addon installed and they both show that I have PR4.

I really don’t obsess over pagerank though. Traffic is all that matters.

  14. A really nice and inspirational post 🙂

You are getting good traffic and the best part is the average time spend which is more than 3 minutes; that is really great. With this traffic, you can get a few more bucks thru adsense, any specific reason it is low? I read that you stopped adsense ads on your blog in between. Why so? 🙂

Anyways, good stats and earning is awesome; I wish you touch the $5k mark soon 🙂

    • Onibalusi says:

You’re right about the traffic Amandeep. It is improving – and I plan to increase, and improve it soon.

The adsense income isn’t for this blog – I haven’t really used adsense on this blog. The adsense income is from my niche site.

If I use adsense on this blog I’m sure it will be making me at least $400-$500 every month, but it really isn’t worth the risk.

  15. Trung Nguyen says:

I see that you earn biggest money from writing services, well can you show me detail about writing services?

  16. Moon Hussain says:

    Hey Onibalusi,

You’re doing grand, man 🙂 You’re right about one thing: It takes more than just traffic to make money online!

I’m learning this lesson through my affiliate sites. I have to work on presenting great content, building trust to get more e-mail subscribers and so on.

    Thanks for the transparency.

    • Onibalusi says:

      Aha Moon,

Since I just started my first niche site I think I can relate with you. I have a great plan to generate traffic and traffic is growing steady everyday – the funny thing is that the money isn’t coming yet, but I guess I have to wait till the traffic is great before I start thinking about money.

  17. Kalen @ Learn Internet Marketing says:

Congratulations Oni! That is awesome. When I was your age I was working as a dishwasher at a local restaurant while putting my way through college. You’re doing way better than I was. One of the reasons I regret going to college instead of going into blogging.

    • Onibalusi says:

Lol. I still plan to go to college though…

I actually think it isn’t about what has happened, but what will happen. What has happened has happened and can’t be changed – I still look at myself and hate not haven’t used my time wisely. This particular period is one of the best periods in my life to get the best from life, but I’m still missing a lot on the table – I wills till be trying my best however.

Just keep doing what you know how to do best and you will soon be proud of yourself 🙂

  18. Pst. Bless says:

i am encouraged by this post, my spirit is aroused now, i had been blogging for some time now, though no huge success yet, but with what i saw now, i am poised to do more. thanks and God bless.

    • Onibalusi says:

Thanks Pastor Blessing. It is comments like these that I love to read, and that exactly is why I publish my income and traffic reports – to motivate, encourage and reassure people that blogging works!

  19. Atish says:

    Its great Oni.. Impressive.

    • Onibalusi says:

      Thanks Atish 🙂

  20. Melvin says:

$4k for writing services, wow. You’re one of the very few people in the blogging scene that makes that amount of money by offering writing services to other people.

Is that (writing) more of a freelance type of work or related to this blog?

    • Onibalusi says:

      Hi Melvin,

Aha, that’s right – but I plan balancing my income from every source soon.

The freelance writing is more of a freelance job unrelated to this blog, but the client got to me through this blog.

  21. Pretty nice earnings Oni… Congrats !!

    • Onibalusi says:

      Thanks Salman 🙂

  22. Flo | Create Your Own Website says:

    Hi Oni,

By pursuing your writing skills and making a lot of money from it, you have shown that we can indirectly make money from our blogs and websites and use the site as a marketing tool. Look at the difference your writing has made to your income! It would have been a different story if you had folded your hands, waiting for money to come only from your affiliate links.

Good luck in your niche site venture. And you have already made some Adsense income from it. I can’t wait to see what will happen when you get to the top spot for your major keyword in SERPs.

    • Onibalusi says:

      That’s exactly the point Flo!

I’m not exactly a fan of creating products, even though I plan to embrace affiliate marketing very soon a great way I plan to make money online is by offering my services – and blogging makes that very easy.

  23. Ragunath says:

Oni you are becoming most influential Blogger day by day, Hope you will Reach 5 digit Income By Very Soon.

    • Onibalusi says:

Aha, amen. I also hope I reach 5 figure income soon 🙂

  24. Samuel says:

Long time no see bro! 🙂 Great info bro. If I may ask you, why don’t you feel like sharing your niche site with the audience? Are you scared of competition?I can see that you’re making it big bro, very soon you will be sitting among the board of directors of Alexa company 🙂 Thanks for sharing. Have fun.

    • Onibalusi says:

      Thanks bro!

Concerning revealing my niche sites, yes, I’m afraid of competition because this is my first niche site. I might get comfortable with sharing my niche sites when I have a lot and won’t be affected if I get that much competition though.

Thanks a lot and have a great day!

  25. Rahul says:

Man can u please tell me how do you get such cluents. I search them everywhere but no one seems interested in me. 🙁

  26. Mark @ TheBitBot Organic SEO & SEM Blog says:

Congratulations on another successful month Onibalusi!

I know you are working hard and that you earned every penny.

    Keep it up, friend!

    Mark @ TheBitBot SEM Blog

    • Onibalusi says:

      Thanks Mark!

I’m truly working hard, but I need to start working smart now 🙂

  27. digital world says:

wow. You earn 4k$ through writing. thats amazing. Btw you get 16k visitors every month. So why is that your adsense earning so low??

    • Onibalusi says:

My adsense earnings isn’t from this blog. I’d be making hundred times that if I start using adsense on this blog.

  28. Wow! That’s impressive! It’s often difficult for teens to make a bit of money because of school or other activities. You obviously live life with no excuses.

  29. Amit says:

Great earning Oni ,Great work,Best of luck for your future earnings

  30. carport says:

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.

Congrats. I am glad to know that you are able to make a stable income. I find your blog refreshing and the information to be something that I can actually use.
    Good Job! Keep it going.

  33. Ajay | says:

just one question..what do you mean by writing services ???

  34. broccoli soup says:

    Adrian & Sharla

Livt it! Learn it! Share it!

  44. Congratulations on your success! I’m only half-way to where you are with $$. I can tell you that you obviously have the talent to make a few niche blogs on topics you are familiar with that can make you more money with Adsense. Each blog won’t take you more than 2 hours to set up before you write 10 articles or so and it is worth it. I bet you can add another 1,000.00 in steady income within a few short months and increase your bottom line even more!

  45. pete jenkins says:

Why would you post your earnings online for all to view? Trying to project something you are not? IMHO I do not believe you are being honest.

    • Onibalusi says:

No matter what you do, someone is bound to disagree.

  46. Dear Pete,
I assure you I am being honest and when I look at Onibalusi’s stats i get frustrated because I am only making a fraction of what he and another personal friend of mine in my hometown is making also. Your comment leads me to believe you are not where you want to be yet. Keep your chin up and keep learning and trying. You will succeed if you don’t give up. Make a plan and stick with it. I am just a small player in this business.

    These are my money-makers:
    Commission Junction

Good luck, and don’t be so darn skeptical; that will prevent you from reaching your goals!

  47. Abhishek says:

Congratulations on your success. But frankly speaking it makes me jealous.

    • Thanks. But you can do it too. There really aren’t many secrets left to making money with Adsense. If you want to succeed, the bible that I use “XFactors Adsense Masters Course 2nd Edition”. It has everything you need to make a living off Adsense. But only the strong survive; just ask Onibalusi how much work it takes to be successful in this business.

You have to be patient and work hard at writing 400-500 word articles with the right keywords, know how to use “categories”, and you have to know how to backlink the smart way. Last but not least, you have to place a 336×280 ad above the first post, or use two 350×250 ones side by side. That’s it! The hardest part is getting traffic to your sites and you do this by writing consistently or even outsourcing the writing, and by using the right keywords. It is all laid out in the Xfactor pdf guide, and many other guides for that matter. If you can, get your hands on the that xfactor book, there is none better, and you will succeed but it will not be overnight! Good luck.

      • Onibalusi says:

Thanks so much for the awesome comments here Sandra, it is really appreciated!

  48. Ashish says:

really nice buddy, congrates…. good luck for future..

  49. Dennis says:

Hi oni! I’ve been following your blog for some months now but I still can’t understand how you’re earning money from writing services. I used to think you’re making money from blogging, like pat, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I’m thinking about starting a blog of my own but it discourages me to think that even with more than 10,000 it’s hard to monetize the blog through affiliates, etc! So i want to ask, how exactly do you monetize? What is “writing services”?

    • Onibalusi says:

      Hi Dennis,

I’m glad you asked the question.

I’ve addressed most people’s concern about how I make money writing here

      • Dennis says:

Thanks, Oni. You’re an inspiration to all of us.

  50. Kazim says:

You don’t get earning with Adsense? What does writing services means? If not adsense, what is the way you earn?

  51. Kevin says:

Hey Onibalusi, from constantly commenting at the top of some popular blogs you now have yourself a follower haha good job with that!

I love reading these income reports, as they are very inspiring. You’re doing a great job – keep up the hard work.

    • Onibalusi says:

      Thanks Kevin 🙂

  52. Raymund says:

It’s been so wonderful looking for online income like that. It inspires everyone in the online world.

  53. Lalit says:

Excellent achievement and this really encourages me. Thanks

  54. It was a great achievement fren..Its not easy to get such wonderful traffic results rite..i too hear about the difficulties behind that..U r really great and great work..Keep it up !!

  55. Andre says:

    “Writing Services: $4240”

Bogus mysterious income that show’s up on every income report.

    • John says:

Finally someone else notices this too

      • Andre says:

Yeah, four grand in “writing services”? Does the average educated writer make this much? (by educated writer I mean people that have university degrees and publish material in print, be it news, books, whatever).

Is it to make you look more successful so people can give you more credit? To me, it just looks shady.

        • Onibalusi says:

          Hi Andre,

Like I said – the fact that you don’t believe it doesn’t make it impossible.

And for your information, I just got my second client today after negotiating a contract with my main client so this figure will be rising beyond your expectations soon. You’re not the first person to disagree with me, but I’m used to disagreement, and since this report has been read over 1,000 time already this month (more than all other articles published this month) I see no reason to worry.

It’s not a matter of not believing. I have no doubt you make other money writing. It’s just that most people come here hoping to make money blogging, they see that you make thousands of dollars, yet you are very mysterious and offer no hard evidence of your “writing services” income.

I can see why you would want to keep it a secret, especially if you are under a non disclosure agreement, but it defeats the purpose of coming to this blog if I can’t learn about the ways in which you actually make a decent income. I’m glad to see that you don’t delete these comments though. Thanks for being open and nice about these comments.

I have a question: Do you get clients via this very blog or the you actually promote yourself as a writer somewhere else?

          • Onibalusi says:
