COVID-19 and Your Freelance Writing Business: What it Means for You

coronavirus COVID-19

Our world is being impacted in a way we’ve never witnessed in a very long time: the novel coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak has affected pretty much every country in the world, leaving hundreds of thousands infected and almost 10,000 dead at the time of writing this.

Much worse is the fact that many believe that the outbreak is only just beginning and will continue for a while.

Now, I’m not one to panic or fuel panic in anyway (which explains why I’m only just writing about this — there’s no point using my influence to drive panic around this unless I have something very reasonable to say) but I believe it has gotten to a point where I have to give my thoughts on the issue — and that I finally have something to say after having carefully observed the trends of how this is, and will be, affecting freelance writers.

Online Writing Jobs: 45 Websites that Will Pay You to Write in 2020

Would you like to get paid to do online writing jobs in 2020?

One of the best ways to get paid to write is by actively seeking websites and online publications that pay writers. You can then send your submissions to these websites and get paid when your article is accepted or published. If done right, you can earn a full-time living doing online writing jobs just for these websites.

WANT TO EARN YOUR FIRST $1,000 AS A FREELANCE WRITER? Check out my new course for beginner freelance writers!

It is also important to clarify that the websites and publications featured on this list do not use a revenue-share model or any kind of arrangement in which payment is uncertain. Instead, they pay a fixed (and clearly outlined rate) as soon as your article is accepted (or published — depending on their policy). So getting paid for your articles is not a gamble; instead, you know exactly how much money you’ll be making before your write your first word.

In essence, what this article does is that it lists 45 websites and online publications that provides writing jobs for freelance writers; payment for these writing jobs ranges from $50 – $1,000+, and you’ll find sites that pay freelance writers to write about health, tech, travel, finance, business, freelance writing, blogging, and pets.

This list is an extension of my original list of 30 websites that pay writers. So if you’re considering freelance writing as a job, then this is the list you need.

Enjoy!

The Mistake that Made Me Six Figures in Freelance Income

Do you know how fireworks were invented?

Apparently, 2,000 years ago, a (bored?) Chinese cook decided to mix together a few items that were commonly found in the kitchen in those days. When these items (charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter) were mixed and compressed in a bamboo, it created an explosion.

Now, we don’t know whether this cook eventually got to keep his job, but his invention 2,000 years ago is a great source of happiness (and money!) for many people today.

A bored cook’s mistake is the reason we have fireworks today.

So what does accidentally inventing fireworks have to do with making a living as a freelance writer?

Three years ago, I made a “mistake.” Somebody contacted me to express interest in advertising on my blog. Considering that I don’t do adverts on my blog, I had gotten hundreds of similar requests in the past that I turned down or plain ignored.

On this particular day, though, I didn’t know what hit me. I made a “mistake” and did contrary to what I had been doing all the while.

This mistake resulted in $1,200 in income in a single day.

Three years later, I have earned six figures in freelance writing income as a result of the mistake I made on that day.
