My Income and Traffic Report – April 2011

income and traffic reportI have been publishing my income and traffic report on this blog for some time now and it has really been an awesome experience. My major aim for writing these reports is to inspire people and let them see that it is truly possible to make money online, and there is truly hope as far as blogging is concerned. I’ve been getting feedback from readers whom after seeing my traffic report are starting to utilize guest blogging for their blogs and I’ve been getting feedback from readers whom after reading my income report are starting to bring back to live their dead online businesses.

It’s also been a wonderful experience for me because I’m growing in every facets. The feedback from my income and traffic report has inspired posts which are instant successes as soon as I publish them and even though my main aim for publishing these reports is to help people and make them trust me, one thing I’m starting to see from it is that it is making me understand my readers better thus making it very easy for me to serve them.

I know not everybody agrees with me displaying my income report, but that is life. I believe it all depends on what my reasons for displaying my income and traffic report are and how many people will be impacted. Based on the feedback I get, thousands of people are being impacted by these reports every month and very few are against it so I’ll take that as a good sign to continue.

Also, I’d like you to know that I’ll be adding one more feature to these income reports to make it even perfect and to let people see that making money online isn’t as easy or fun as many think but with the right effort it is possible. The new feature I’d be adding to my income report is my monthly expense. I’ve been thinking about it for some time now but when a post was written about it on Pat Flynn’s blog I decided it will be best to give it a go.

Like every other business, blogging or any other form of online income is a business, and business has to do with expenses, revenue and blogging. I’ve mostly been blogging about my revenue on this blog and when a lot of people see it they will think that is exactly how rich I am. From now on, I’ll only be blogging about my profits. Just in case you know, I don’t buy a lot of things so my expenses will have little impact on my profit, so if I make $6,000 online in one month I can still end up with $5,000+. This isn’t the same thing for everybody but I believe what matters most is that your business keeps running – since it is your main income source, you have to ensure it is in good health.

Important Happenings in April

It is true that I love writing and I always have fun doing it but the truth is writing isn’t a form of passive income thus leading to instability in the amount of income I make every month. I understand this and that is why I have been doing a lot to ensure my online business doesn’t depend on me trading my time or skills for money, but being able to make money while I sleep so I have been revisiting some aspects of my business. One such great aspect I’m beginning to focus on is the amount of traffic that is coming to my blog from search engines so I have started guest blogging actively again. I will be doing my best this month to appear on as many blogs as I can and by this I hope to strengthen the authority of this blog as far as the search engines is concerned and also gain more search engine traffic to my blog on the long term. I have a little understanding of how search engines work and I know the results I will get won’t be instant, but I’m sure it will be worth it on the long run.

Another important thing I’ve been working on is expanding my income sources, so instead of focusing on writing alone I will have other income sources from ventures like affiliate marketing, partnership, consulting services etc. and by doing so I will have been able to grow my online real estate significantly.

Responding to Emails

It was a little difficult responding to emails in April and I still have “a few” emails waiting to be responded to. Some of you who sent me an email will notice it took some time to reply and this has a lot to do with my ineffective time management techniques, I have downloaded a software called pomodairo based on the pomodoro time management technique I first heard from Glen Allsopp. The pomodoro technique is based on you working at 25 minute intervals and then taking a 5 minutes break after every interval. It can be personally difficult to do this but it is possible with the help of the software – in fact, I wrote this post with it and I hope it’ll make a lot of things easier for me in the future.

I’m openly apologizing to those of you who’re yet to get an email reply from me and I know it’s my duty to give you a prompt response, I greatly understand the fact that my readers make my business so they can NEVER be ignored, and I can assure you of getting a reply soon.

At the same time I’d also like you to know that I don’t reply to all emails because some emails are just too vague that they do nothing but waste my time. Before sending me an email make sure you read this blog carefully to ensure there isn’t already an answer to your question, I know it might be difficult reading all of my blog posts, and I don’t even suggest that which is why I already have a search bar on the top of this blog, you can easily type your query in it and get some answers. I’d also like you to know that the type of email you send me is of utmost importance. I’m not a wordpress blogger or a design expert so when you send me emails make sure your email sticks to the subject line of my blog. If you need more help with designing, wordpress or so you can hire the experts to do that, and one great person I recommend you should get in touch with is my friend Devesh Sharma from TechnShare.com. He even has a service dedicated to that and he’ll give you the best service you desire.

To know which kind of emails I respond to and which kind I don’t I suggest you read my contact page carefully, everything is listed there.

I know it sounds kind of funny to be having rules for emails, but I’m sorry I have to do that, the amount of emails I get everyday can be overwhelming and I’ll never hire or use the help of others to help me solve my email problems, my email is me and to ensure I give users the best response possible I need you to adhere to some rules.

April 2011 Traffic Report

April was a great month for WritersinCharge and my April traffic report is the best till date. I saw a significant increase in my blog traffic for the month of April with almost 14,000 visitors to my blog and this is a good sign of growth showing that I’m doing something right.

Below are some traffic screenshots for you to see what I mean.

april 2011 traffic report for writersinchargeThe above is the main traffic screenshot for April and it shows I got over 13,800 visits to this blog, a 63% bounce rate, 27,000 page views and an average time of 3 min on this site in April. If you ask me I’d say this is impressive and that doesn’t overrule the fact that this blog still needs improvement and that my marketing needs to change. Below is another screenshot of what are my highest traffic sources for the month of April.

april 2011 traffic report for writersincharge - top traffic sources

The above list shows that my top traffic sources are mostly from search engines and other sites – this is as a result of my guest posts getting published on some big blogs last month. As a result of the recent Google Panda update my search engine traffic is also increasing and some of my old posts are becoming very popular without me doing anything to get more traffic to them. I learnt a SEO trick sometimes ago from internet marketer Richard Legg on increasing your search engine traffic and I have started to implement the trick to see how it works. When I start getting results I would let you know how everything goes.

The most fantastic aspect of this traffic report is the most popular posts in May, a lot can be learnt from these posts and you can see that yourself by taking a clear look at the image below.

Lessons Learnt from Getting Almost 14k Visitors in April

I have a whole blog post dedicated to this alone so I won’t be divulging any more secrets (I will strongly advise you to read that post!) but one major thing I’d like you to know is that nothing trumps quality content. Every top post in the month of April was of high quality and highly helpful including my income reports and even my list of dofollow blogs and the fact is that it will still be highly popular for a long time to come.

April 2011 Income Report

My income report for the month of April was the highest ever, even though I wanted to make far more than I did, but it’s all a matter of time and I’ll be in the tens of thousands of dollars monthly. Below is my income breakdown for the month of April.

Writing Services: $5,000

Affiliate Marketing: $121.75

Partnership: $111

TOTAL: $5232.75

EXPENSES

Aside displaying my income reports I think another aspect I need to really focus to let people know that this is a business is the aspect of the expenses so that people don’t just think you make money while investing none. Below are my expenses for the month of April.

Web Hosting: $139

Expert Makeover: $250

Other Expenses: $100

Total Expenses: $489

The above are my expenses for the month of April as far as my business is concerned. As far as I know, even if my expenses is deducted from my revenue I still make enough money to justify me working on the internet compared to having a 9-5 job. Making money online takes time and requires an investment. As far as purchasing products online is concerned I don’t purchase any product unless it is the best, and I only buy courses from trusted internet marketers I highly respect – it’s all about implementing and not just reading. As far as I am concerned I have bought every product I know of by Glen Allsopp and I won’t think twice before buying a product Pat Flynn launches, I’m a follower of their work and I trust them.

‘Lesson’ Learnt from Making $5,000+ in April

Stop looking for quick ways to make money online and start focusing on helping people with what you’re best at. A lot of people email me telling me writing isn’t a form of passive income. I know this, but it makes me money, and as long as I love it and I’m focusing on improving other aspects of my business that make me passive income I don’t think I have much of a problem.

    Hey Oni,
Really enjoy reading income reports and yours included. What I love most, is how you planned your release of your income report after everyone had posted theirs! If this was done intentionally great thinking, if not, still great!
Enjoy your day Oni, you’re a great guy!

    Martinsays: I’m off

    • Onibalusi says:

      Hi Martin,

Aha, yeah a lot of things affect how often my income report gets published – but believe me, I plan when it goes live, and yes, I wait for some of the top bloggers (like Pat Flynn) to publish theirs first, so I can learn a lot from it before publishing mine.

  2. Vivek Parmar says:

Wow great increase in earning. Affiliates paying you less. Try to increase affiliate income.
All teh best and good wishes are with you

    • Onibalusi says:

  3. Mark says:

I also like Supernatural a lot, as for your income it looks pretty good, but I guess you work like a maniac for it. Keep it up!

    • Onibalusi says:

I’m glad to see another fan. I just finished watching the season 4 Yesterday and I’ll be starting with the season 5 today.

I’m glad to hear that about my income, but a lot of people really overrate how much work I do – or maybe it’s just me ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Mighty says:

Congratulations on another great month Oni!

  5. Great month Oni.
Thanks again for the freelance course.I am in deep study and will let you in on my results.
Sharing what you do with others is a great way to get traffic.I tell it as it is on my blog and the truth often scares people. Why do people fear the truth?
Great question you should ask your readers.
Have a great month of May my friend.

    • Onibalusi says:

      Hi Pierre,

      I’m glad you loved it.

The best thing to do is implement the tips in it. With that I can assure you of achieving success ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Joseph says:

I envy you sometimes as an older person not making as much money online but I must the fact that you’ve worked hard for this. I am so proud of you my brother. Keep it up!

I’m really flattered to hear that. Thanks so much bro ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Alex Humphrey says:

When you say “writing services” what do you mean? Are those ebook sales or do you write for magazines, paid blogs, etc?

    • Alex Humphrey says:

PS – congrats on the 5000 month! That is fantastic! It is so good to see you become so successful!!!

      • Onibalusi says:

        Sure. Thanks!

By writing services I meant by taking private writing clients just like writing for magazines, paid blogs etc. just that mine isn’t magazine.

        • Eric says:

Hi Onibalusi. I’m little late, but can you provide some of this blogs or magazines. Or it would be nice if you write a post about this “writing services”. Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Way to go Oni! Any increase, no matter how small it is, in the right direction is a great thing.

As you mentioned in the post, there is no way to making quick money. Everything you have earned is exactly that “EARNED”.

There is no such thing as a free meal. Everything comes as a matter of hard work and determination to succeed, no matter what it is you’re aiming for.

I think I may be preaching to the choir but you know what I mean Oni! Keep on trucking my friend! I know you have many successes to come and I cannot wait to see you at the top!

    • Onibalusi says:

      Hi Hector,

I’m actually not seeing you as preaching to the choir because you’re saying the real deal. What you’re saying makes complete sense and I can totally resonate with it.

Thanks so much for the awesome support and have a great day!

  11. William Tha Great says:

    Hey Oni,

It’s been a long road for you, but everyday you keep taking steps in the right direction. Keep working hard and doing what makes you happy, because in the end your happiness what matters most.

    God bless,
    William Veasley

    • Onibalusi says:

You’re so right William. It doesn’t matter how much you have, it is worth nothing if you’re not happy.

  12. I have been silently following your blog and i think it’s high time i comment on your traffic report. It’s quite inspiring to those who have never made a dime online. However, i’ll advice you work towards increasing your passive income and it’s not necessary you achieve that online. You can go the offline route like invest some of the cash in stocks or real estate. All the same, keep up the good work, make more money and acquire some assets.

    • Onibalusi says:

      Hi Bro,

You’re right about that and I’m already taking necessary actions about this. I might not get the desired result in a few months time but I’m sure I will have built a nice passive income empire by the next 6 month.

  13. Java Nature says:

you do not use google adsense again?

    • Onibalusi says:

Not making much money now, but I plan starting some niche sites soon so I will start including it soon ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Lee Ka Hoong says:

Hey bro, you have really awesome earning this month especially your writing services! I’m curious is the $5,000 from several paid blogs or just from one blog?

Anyway, I believe that you have done a great job and worked very hard for this, you desire it bro!

Keep it up and you can bypass $10,000 next month!

    Regards,
    Lee Ka Hoong

    • Onibalusi says:

Aha bro, I’m really glad to hear that. It is from several great blogs.

  15. Really a great increasing in earnning.

  16. Hi Onibalusi,

Congrats for your huge earnings. You made $5000 just by writing that’s really great to read. I must say that you’ve got amazing writing skills. Keep it up. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. Seobricks says:

I’m a big fan of your b log and get a lot of motivation on seeing your monthly income report especially your earnings with content writing services. Could you give some tips to other follow bloggers about how they can reach to a level you are through their content writing skills?

  18. Gloson says:

The big question that I have is this:

How are you going to increase your affiliate income?

    • Onibalusi says:

I’m so glad to hear that from you, and every single moment I hear that I inspire others to take action I become happy and wish I can do even more.

Concerning increasing my affiliate earnings, I will keep you updated on my blog.

      Regards,

      • Slowly Making It says:

Also, I’m looking at your posts to figure out how you went from zro to what you have now. I’m going to be trying to be following the same pattern to develop more traction (just say’in).

    • Onibalusi says:

  25. Why do you pay so much for hosting every month?

    • Onibalusi says:

Because quality is far better than quantity and I can risk my site going offline for a moment.

  26. Rakesh Kumar says:

Onibalusi, you working great and i hope you will get what you have decided. However still, i am only depend on Google to my earnings.

    • Onibalusi says:

I LOVE what you said here –

Stop looking for quick ways to make money online and start focusing on helping people with what youโ€™re best at. A lot of people email me telling me writing isnโ€™t a form of passive income. I know this, but it makes me money, and as long as I love it and Iโ€™m focusing on improving other aspects of my business that make me passive income I donโ€™t think I have much of a problem.

Just because it’s not passive doesn’t mean that it doesn’t count! It’s still money and great money for doing what you love.

    Kudos to you!

  47. Hi Oni,

  48. Hans Raj Hans says:

really great $5000 from Writing services only..Great Man…and may be you can improve your Affiliate earning….and why you don’t mention google adsense?
    all are using this.
    thanks

  49. Jarod Billingslea says:

Great job, and I agree. People should accept the fact that quick money is quick money. It took me a long time to acknowledge that millions took a lot of time. So, I understand how you feel, Onibalusi.

    Listen to him, people.

  50. Bill says:

Can you provide us with some bona fid proof that you actually made that amount of money?

    • Onibalusi says:

If the above does not make you believe me then there’s nothing else that will. Overall, I’d advise you do what you know how to do best and success will come.

      • Bill says:

Sure there is; supply images of the sources for whom you’ve performed your writing services for and a breakdown of the corresponding $5K payments paid to you by those sources. In fact do that for all of your revenue sources you’ve listed.

        • Neeraj Rawat says:

          ROFL,

Is he asking to buy something to us,lolz he just showed to motivate others that really it can be achieved, rest proof is his websites alexa ranking 11,459 hope you know by this how much traffic he is getting and there aint much ads on this site moreover he is running it on dedicated server.

Sorry no offense but your silly question couldnt resist me

          • Bill says:

No offense taken. Sorry to burst your bubble but a high ranking in Alexa and a huge amount of monthly traffic, albeit impressive, is not proof of the revenue he claims to be making.

I’m not calling him a liar. I’m simply asking for images of his revenue sources. It seems like you would welcome such proof unless you are the type of person who only believes what you want or need to believe and never questions anyone or anything. If that’s the case, then you’ll believe me when I tell you that I made over 50 million dollars last year off three websites.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist responding to your silly and naive comment

TC bye and best of luck for your future endeavours.

lol. “Unsubscribed to comments” – Works every time I burst someone’s bubble.

  53. Wow Great. But I really like to know if there is any relation between your blog traffic and your income. As I see more than 90% of your income comes from writing services. So what is this?

  54. ok awesome article and may be this is reward against what have you done for earning online.
