The one lesson the Holy Spirit taught me about blogging

If everybody had known this, they might be more successful. You might be surprised by the title and even be wondering what type of lesson this is but let me tell you, holy spirit lesson if I had not learned mine the hard way, I would argue with anybody who comes my way and tell me this, I will tell the person he/she is saying what is meaningless (I am sorry!), but, not until the Holy Spirit taught me this lesson did I believe it myself.

How did it start?

I do write a lot of guest posts and also perform so many traffic generation strategies; I made my blog an authority in Google’s sight. It started last month, I was able to have daily visitors of up to 300 unique visitors regularly, it was increasing to 400 but instead of thanking God and making myself full of appreciation, I was always complaining and comparing my stats to that of Darren Rowse who gets up to 20000 daily unique visitors, I was in a lawyer’s house, coaching him about starting and building a successful blog and also telling him while a blog is the most important type of platform on which someone can build a website. I told him how the numbers of my visitors skyrocketed and all the likes, I was telling him that was small that I want it to be in the thousands… Immediately, I went to check Darren Rowse’s stats and I say his visitors has sincerely dropped from 20000 to about 12000, that was how I changed the subject of my message and I started telling him to just take a look at Darren’s stat, to see how he loosed about 8000 visitors in just one day. I also told him that I myself complaining of getting about 400 unique daily visitors, that so many people want this type of traffic but just couldn’t get it e.t.c. You will not believe that since that day, my daily visitor dropped to about 120 unique daily, I was not happy and anytime I started getting an increase, I will just be thanking God. I am so happy to tell you now and most importantly I thank God that my daily visitors has now returned to over 200 unique visitors daily.

In a nutshell, the lesson is: “Always thank God and be appreciable of all that has been done and you will continue to see more success”.

Don’t let me forget to tell you that I am a jealous blogger, I love success so If I see any one successful, I will also want to be as great and successful as the fellow and I will always take steps to be so.

Thanks a lot for reading my post, It is a pleasure and I am so humbled.

Here’s the lesson that I’ve learned: whatever you appreciate, appreciates. Saying “Thank You” tells God to send more.

I too used to compare myself to other bloggers but thinking competitively is a curse. God made one Onibalusi Bamidele that is you in the history of existence, he made one Ryan Biddulph that is me. We should never use others as a benchmark or else we’re dishonoring our unique spot in God’s eyes.

I feel grateful for each visitor and comment. I might get 100 RTs on some days on twitter; I’ll respond to each person with a Thank You!!! ;) When I started doing this my following increased substantially, my business improved, and I became wealthier. One Thank You goes a long way.

Yeah! exactly, yeah! whatever you appreciate appreciates and what ever you don’t appreciate depreciates and as you said: “One Thank you goes a long way”.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment, I really appreciate you here.

I saw your post RT’ed by Famous Bloggers and the title definitely caught my attention! :) I am a pastor who mostly blogs about life as a Christian but in the last couple of months I have branched out a bit and began to write about blogging. For me, numbers represent people. I want to influence and impact as many people as possible through my blog!

      Hi Kevin,
Glad to have you here, I am also very happy to know you are a pastor. Yeah, number represents people but i think it is more important to be thankful for the visitors we get for example now, I am thanking God because you commented on my blog.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment, I really appreciate it.

I love your honesty! God will bless you! I packaged the following words in a post on my blog:
You want the inheritance of your earthly father to pass on to you. So, why should you sit there and be in need when your heavenly Father has left you everything? Your Father is rich, and He left everything to you. However, you will not get your inheritance until you ask for it. Demand what your Father left you. That degree, that promotion, that financial breakthrough has your name on it!

gratitude is the way of life, sincerely. Anybody who don’t value the little success they receive on a daily basis, should want or deserve for more, right?

What do you think guys – your input is welcomed and anticipated…

P.S. I gave up comparing myself or my success with others long time ago, now I compare what I do yesterday with today’s results and strive for doing better tomorrow…

    • Onibalusi Bamidele

      Hi Cordut,

Gratitude is truly the way of life, why do you expect more if you don’t appreciate what you get? There is a great force between everything we do (God), and He deserves appreciation for all we are given.

Thanks a lot for your nice comment,

    Inspirational post man.
I think I might just be guilty of not thanking God enough lately.
    I’ll change that. :)

This post really hits home for me. Someone almost like a mother in my life recently told me the same thing. In all things put God first. I cannot do it on my own and I learned that lesson years ago. For some reason I fell in to the trap of thinking that I could make my website successful by working hard and following the advice of all of the internet marketing gurus. I will not be making that mistake any longer.

You have a wonderful blog here and believe me. 200 visitors a day is great. I still have not made it to that number, but the Lord willing, I will. You have a great start to achieving every goal you desire. Just keep putting him first. God bless!

Yes gratitude is the key. Thank you for the post.

    Hello Onibalusi,
I never knew you love God so much. That’s so awesome because God is all I know. I believe appreciating him for the little traffic is what he needs to send the thousands you need.

One more thing, please stop comparing your daily stats with the top bloggers, they have paid the price to be where they are today. If you can look straight to God, appreciate him daily and keep writing quality and fresh content, you’ll definitely move up the ladder pretty soon.

    I hope this helps?
